Open Source

Open Source refers to software which is available for public use and which enjoys widespread use in the programming community.  Unlike proprietary products (example: Microsoft software) it is available with minimal licensing requirements and often at no cost.  Some vendors who supply open source products work off a model where the software is free and clients are able to purchase maintenance contracts if their demands are such that they need extra resources.  MySQL is one of the better known open source products and one which CMS knows particularly well.  Our use of this product saves time and money for our clients.
